Our Journey into Sustainability

The concept of sustainable development was introduced for the first time in 1987 in the Brundtaland report published by the World Commission on Environment and Development. In this report we read its definition for the first time: “a sustainable development is a development that meets the needs of the present time without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own.” This definition refers to the well-being of people as such; today the word “sustainability” has broadened its meaning and includes areas such as ecology, economy and society. A new definition of sustainability has therefore been created, which represents the necessary condition to achieve a balance between man and ecosystem, where the well-being of individuals is important as well as that of the environment that hosts them.

Environment, health and well-being of people have always been a priority for Colorgraf: this is why we have been working in the context of sustainability for some time, with increasingly concrete actions.

Since 2010, the roofs of our warehouses have been set up with 5,500 square meters of photovoltaic panels that cover 30% of Colorgraf’s energy needs by producing 111.000 kWh/year: this production allows us to avoid the release of 70,900 kg/year of CO2 into the atmosphere. Further investments in this area are ongoing.

Colorgraf’s commitment to respecting the environment is daily: we replaced neon lamps -containing mercury – with more sustainable LED lamps; we constantly look for packaging and raw materials with an always decreasing environmental impact; our OR, UV and Flexo FP series are certified as compostable; we constantly collaborate with disposers working for energy recovery through waste-to-energy.

All of this is part of a large sustainable development project that Colorgraf adheres to day after day. “Making customer problems our own, even the most complex ones, to immediately provide the best solution” is our winning idea: to reach this goal Colorgraf implements a daily growth process in accordance with technological, qualitative and regulatory evolution on health and safety, having special consideration for environment and sustainability.
